Peter Fox has joined in calls to celebrate April 14 as National Laverbread Day.

This iconic Welsh dish, made from laver seaweed, has many health benefits, and contains a wide range of nutrients, including iron and iodine.

Peter Fox MS said: “Laverbread is another one of Wales’ iconic delicacies, and a dish that deserves to be celebrated.

“Our coastal community has much to offer and seaweed provides both health and environmental benefits including absorbing vast amounts of carbon dioxide.

“I hope everyone will join me and continue to support our incredible coastal community.”

The underwater forests of seaweed can help support marine biodiversity, providing a safe habitat for a wide range of marine life including fish, coral and crustaceans.
