Wye Valley Music is delighted that their next concert on Sunday, June 22nd at 3pm in St. Mary’s church, Ross on Wye will feature the internationally renowned Carducci String Quartet. The Carducci is recognised as one of today's most successful string quartets, performing over 90 concerts worldwide each year and releasing a bevy of acclaimed recordings. The quartet members are Matthew Denton (violin), Michelle Fleming (violin), Eoin Schmidt-Martin, (viola), and Emma Denton (cello). The group has been good friends of Wye Valley Music over the years and last played for them in Monmouth in 2022. The quartet is one of the society’s most popular performers and it will be a pleasure and a privilege to welcome them back.
The programme on the 22nd is: Schubert: String Quartet No.10 in Eb major; Shostakovich: String Quartet No. 8. Interval
Hubert Parry: "Air from An English Suite"; Dvorak: String Quartet No.10 "American"
This is the first time that Wye Valley Music has put on a concert in Ross-on-Wye and they do so in partnership with createROSS, a voluntary community group formed in 2016 to enhance people’s lives through creativity, inspiration, fun and self-expression, principally in Ross-on-Wye and South Herefordshire.
As well as being world class musicians in demand across the globe, the Carducci find time to support music in schools. In recent years, we have worked in partnership with them to bring the experience of classical music to primary and secondary schools in the Wye Valley. This is part of our outreach programme, Wye Valley Music in Schools, giving children access to live performances by top quality professional musicians.
Make sure to book your tickets soon on www.wyevalleymusic.org.uk as this concert is one of the highlights of the 2025 season and is likely to sell out.
