Wye Valley Chamber Music’s concert on Sunday 27 July, at 3pm in St. Briavels Church sees internationally renown musicians playing alongside the emerging quartets and musicians they have tutored during the Summer Residency.

Tutors Daniel Tong (piano) and Krysia Osostowicz (violin), open the programme with Mozart’s Violin Sonata in E minor, K304. Tim Smedley (cello) joins the Slate Quartet for Glazunov’s String Quintet, a Romantic gem, full of sweeping, lyrical melodies. Two movements of Bach’s Sonata in A minor follow, reimagined for four violas by tutor Robin Ireland, bringing fresh depth and sonority to the solemn Grave and intricate Fugue. The concert concludes with Shostakovich’s electrifying Piano Quintet, performed by the Florens Quartet with Daniel Tong.
