Mackie
SIR,
Bass singer William Mackie gave his audience a very special evening on 24th August at St.Mary's Church in Monmouth.
He was dynamically accompanied on the piano by Gareth Llyr Simon.
What a performance. 'Bill' is our true operatic star, living in Monmouth.
From an Aria (he told us the story first), to the ever popular Cornish Floral Dance, it was a programme of great diversity.
With his range and exciting renditions of each offering, he carried us along with powerful enthusiasm.
He could not have been bettered. He and Gareth more than deserved a standing ovation, his audience ranging from a three year old to over eighty-years-olds.
Come on Monmouth, let's give William Mackie the publicity and support he so richly deserves.
The Savoy Theatre, so often empty, is the ideal venue for a series of monthly concerts by William Mackie, accompanied of course by Gareth at the piano. They would fill this beautiful old theatre, and in so doing would bring enormous pleasure to a wide audience.
Well done William and Gareth.
