Monmouth Gymnastics club open day was rather a special event this year as Karen who has run the club for the past 28 years along with Terry both retired.
It was an emotional day for both coaches as surprise after surprise unfolded. Firstly the current gym girls all performed routines, vaults and tumbles to rapturous support from parents and friends. Then a stream of past girls marched into the hall under the direction of Tash who had all been secretly rehearsing, along with Karen's daughter and had put together a routine of past favourite performances. They were outstanding and had clearly worked so hard and deservedly received so much applause.
The morning finished with a party and trip down memory lane with a display of past photos, medals and costumes. All in all it was an amazing show of strength from everyone and how important the club is now and was to past children, a fantastic celebration of the years and dedication of the coaches and children.
Moving forwards the club is now being led by Hollie and Tash, both past girls who are going to be taking the club forwards to new levels which is very exciting. New classes are being introduced from September, a new squad of girls are going to be working to enter Sports Acro Competitions and the Event Squad is taking on new children.

Karen and Terry would like to thank everyone for making the day so special including the leisure centre and comprehensive school. Also to all the support from parents over the years who have been just amazing
