Friends of the 65 bus are pleased to report that Monmouthshire County Council, who run the 65 bus, are trialling an electric bus on the route for the next couple of weeks.

The bus will run on the 8.45am and 11.15am from Chepstow to Monmouth, and back.

Friends of the 65 bus told the Beacon “This is very exciting news as it could be the first step towards environmentally friendly public transport which is high on Monmouthshire’s policies on climate change and sustainability.”

MCC Passenger Transport Unit have asked for feedback from any of the passengers using the service. The 65 bus runs from Chepstow to Monmouth along the picturesque Wye Valley high road. The usual bus is fully accessible for the less able, those with pushchairs and those with shopping trolleys.

Friends of the 65 bus is a group formed from the campaign to save the vital link. After countless hours of campaigning and community action, the route was saved, and a powerful local grassroots campaigning group was form as a result and continues to protect the service.
