The challenge to design the 2021 Christmas card for the mayor of Monmouth was taken up by one of his chosen charities for the year.

Questbusters, (QB), the Bridges-based charity who provide activities for 8-17 year olds with additional needs and their families, rose to the challenge and produced a number of designs for judging.

Bridges Centre Director, Aileen Atkinson, was asked to judge the entries and chose the winning design by Elsie Freeman because of the "wonderfully painted Santa and his reindeer riding over Monnow Bridge".

Mayor of Monmouth, Councillor Terry Christopher awarded the winners and runners up with their certificates and prizes for the competition. He thanked everyone who took part in drawing and painting his Christmas card: "I’m so grateful and would like to congratulate everyone for taking part".

First prize was awarded to Elsie Freeman, second-placed design was painted by Masie Freeman and third place went to Tom Heron.

Charmaine Cunningham of QuestBusters said everyone had a lovely afternoon meeting the mayor, " a huge thank you to Terry, who came and spent the afternoon with us and also to Aileen for judging the competition and Waitrose in Abergavenny who provided the refreshments".

Louise Rixon added that they were very grateful to Terry "for choosing us as one of his charities for the year and the money that he raises for us all goes back to supporting all the families we work with".
