A PRIMARY school is celebrating after a glowing report from the minister of state for school standards.

Whitchurch CofE Primary School received the letter from Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP who congratulated the school on the “very high level of progress” that pupils had made.

The school was placed in the top two per cent of schools nationally in terms of the progress children make in reading, writing and mathematics.

“This outstanding achievement is testament to the love the children at Whitchurch have for learning and their determination to be the very best they can be,” said head teacher Claire McKeown. “Being so well taught and cared for by excellent teachers and teaching assistants ensures that every child has the chance to thrive.”

“We want to ensure that every child has the necessary fluency in reading, writing and mathematics to prepare them for a successful secondary education and beyond, and your school has provided this,” Mr Gibb’s letter said.

“Thank you for your hard work and professionalism in producing such high standards and congratulations again to you and your staff for all you have achieved.”
