KYMIN View School have been working hard on their green credentials and the school has been rewarded with a Green Flag eco status.

Part of this has been centred on their new pond that caretaker Dan Nickells has developed in a corner of the school.

Here the children have overseen the making of wildlife homes with plants to encourage the area to be kept buzzing with interest.

Karen Dube, a governor at the school worked hard to secure a grant for £750 from MHA Housing to help with the funding.

The eco work towards the green flag status was overseen by the pupil-led eco council and the school has stopped using plastic straws and bottles and the children have been monitoring the energy used at the school and have been turning off lights when they are not used.

Mrs Lyndsay Vernon, teacher at the school said that the pupils have worked hard to gain the Green Flag status: “They have all been amazed by the pond building and we will be using that feature for our outdoor learning activities” she added.
