TWO people are in hospital and a man has been arrested following a crash near Monmouth last night (Tuesday 29th June).

A Ford Fiesta and a lorry were involved in the crash on the A4136 between Monmouth and Staunton at around 5pm.

A 61-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman were taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.

The man's condition is described as critical but stable, and the woman is stable.

A one-year-old boy was in the back of the car and was uninjured.

The driver of the lorry, a 38-year-old Romanian man, was arrested for dangerous driving and is in police custody.

The road was closed both ways on Tuesday evening, causing disruption to rush hour traffic.
