Waitrose celebrated a double occasion on Friday 20th August with the opening of its new cafe and a store management switch over.

The cafe has been incorporated as part of a complete store refit, which began in June.

Barbara Stubbs, department manager, said: "We had to change the refrigeration systems within the store in order to comply with new regulations, so we took it as an opportunity to refurbish the entire store.

"We have made some major changes, and we now stock 1,000 more lines than we did before.

"The store will have been open for 15 years in November, and there have been many requests from customers in the past for a cafe.

"We hope people will now be able to come here and socialise with friends as part of their weekly shopping experience."

The cafe opened at 8.30am, when the ribbon was cut by staff member, Sandra Feakins.
