Tommy Tyler-Batt, playing for nine-man Monmouth Lads U13 in the East Gwent league, scored a double hat trick as part of a decisive 15-1 win in a local derby against league newcomers Wyesham.

Coach Andrew Davies took the decision to pack the midfield with a reduced Monmouth team, which proved to be a winning formula.

The other points were scored by Davies, Kear, Antypas and Goodridge, all two apiece, and by Cleaves, who scored one.

Wyesham had some chances, in particular a well struck free kick that was well saved by goalkeeper Josh Meel, who managed to get a hand to the ball and push it onto the crossbar.

Next week the team will have a more testing time away, facing league leaders Crickhowell.
