THE refurbishment of a former art room in Bridges Centre has received its first donation from Art in Penallt.
The group donated £500 raised from the Penallt Art Festival held at the start of September with another £500 going to the Babington Meadows.
The festival, now in its seventh year ran over four days featuring art at Capel Pentwyn and in Babington Meadows.
Treasurer, Tom Rigby said the group always has a local focus “We always try to do something local rather than a big national charity.”
Mark Walton from Bridges Centre said the donation will be the first to go towards the refurbishment of what was originally a bedroom.
“We came to the building 12 to 13 years ago and this room was an art room, it was then used as an office but we indadvertedly started to notice the floor started to sink.
“Because it is a Grade II* listed building we have to be very carful with renovating, it is going to coast about £30,000 and we are going to apply for a grant but this will be the first bit of money we will put towards it.”
