Sir,

Welcome as the decision to allow dogs into our castles is (paws for celebration), I fear that at unmanned sites it could exacerbate what is already an unpleasant problem -- indiscriminate fouling.

Here, in Skenfrith there are no facilities for waste disposal of any kind, despite the large number of visitors the village attracts, save when the Community Shop is open at weekends.

Consequently, rubbish of all description - soiled nappies, barbecue remains, pooper scoops - is frequently dumped in the bins of residents.  And these are the responsible visitors, who make an effort to clean up!

In the absence of designated bins, the increased freedom to walk our dogs is a mixed blessing.
