A GARDEN designer from Kilgwrrwg, Devauden, will have a show garden at the Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) Flower Show Cardiff.
Lisa Cox was approached by the RHS and Victoria Park Mazda, a car dealership in Cardiff, to see if she was interested in having a design on show.
The building work for the garden starts soon with the final stages of planning being completed in the next few days.
Lisa said: "Plans are going really well and we're on track for the build to start on Wednesday 8th April
"I'm now focussed on finalising all the plants – it's a really early show so it's a tricky business having everything looking good so early in the season."
Having moved to the area in January from south east England, Lisa is in the process of re-establishing her design practice in the area and jumped at the opportunity to create a garden for the show.
Frequently working with her parents to source plants for projects as they own a nursery, Lisa has been working as a garden designer for more than eight years, both at home and abroad.
The garden is sponsored by Victoria Park Mazda to coincide with the launch of the new Mazda2, a car that has strong eco-friendly credentials.
With the dealership's support, Lisa has designed an urban garden with all the practical elements needed from a small patch of land in the town. There is space to park the car and store the bins, but there has been a bench included to allow time for relaxation and to enjoy the compactly planted trees, flowers and shrubs.
The RHS Flower Show Cardiff runs from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th April in Bute Park, Cardiff.
