Ross Motor Club duo Eric Davis and Russell Joseph were crowned the 2011 HRCR Mini Cup Champions after a somewhat eventful Cambrian Historic Rally last Saturday (8th October), but fifth Mini home was enough to secure the crown.

Davis, who has rallied minis for nearly 30 years, was in a two-way battle with rival Clive King for the title. 45 miles of tough competition in the forests of Penmachno, Clocaenog and the famous tarmac of the Great Orme lay in wait for the 130 crews.

But when King crashed heavily on stage two, Davis only had to finish to wrap up the title. Easier said than done, steering problems on two were soon sorted, but stages five and six were so rough they caused a misfire and the wipers failed.
