Monmouth School's rugby 7s team have returned victorious from Gemau Cymru, a new multi-sport event held in Cardiff on Sunday 10th July.

Team captain George Lee said: "This is on a different circuit to what we normally play and every team was a new challenge.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed it here today and hopefully we can be invited again next year."

Monmouth School won the cup final 24-19 against Carmarthenshire College, scoring the winning try in the last seconds.

Ifan Evans, a member of Wales' rugby 7 squad and the Gemau Cymru rugby ambassador, said: "That was a very exiting final, the standard of rugby played by both sides was very good."
