Come and hear five rising musical stars at the Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival on Tuesday, February 17th at 7pm in the Recital Hall of Monmouth School, (Hereford Road site).

Concert programme: Martinů Madrigals for Violin and Viola; Dohnanyi Serenade for String Trio in C, Op. 10; Mendelssohn String Quintet in A, Op. 18

Isabell Karlsson (violin) is a third-year undergraduate at the Royal College of Music and a former leader of the National Youth Orchestra whilst Maya Broman Crawford-Phillips (violin) studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School and was a semi finalist in the 2025 BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. There are two viola players: Isobel Neary-Adams who studies with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she holds a scholarship, having completed undergraduate study at the University of Oxford and Jemimah Davies, a first-year student at the Royal College of Music. Cellist Andrew O’Reilly is a second-year student at the Royal College of Music and a former leader of the cello desks of the National Youth Orchestra.

On Sunday, February 15th at 3pm in the same venue, two of these rising stars, Isobel Neary-Adams and Andrew O’Reilly, will be joined by internationally renown violinists Malin Broman, Annabelle Meare and Sarah Trickey, Lawrence Power (viola),Robin Michael (cello) and pianists Simon Crawford-Phillips and Joseph Tong in a programme full of Czech vitality and depth. —Smetana’s String Quartet No. 2 bursts with bold invention and freedom, while Dvořák and Suk bring radiant piano writing, heartfelt poetry, and exuberant ensemble interplay.
