In spite of the storms and regular downpours, Ross Seniors were able to complete the 6th and final round of the Club's Layton Cup competition with 70 members taking part.

David Whitehead, a 13 handicapper, added to his already highly effective year by claiming the top spot in the day's results table with 40 points, just pushing the former C Team Skipper, Malcolm Thornton, who also scored 40 points, into 2nd place with the benefit of count-back.

By finishing in third place with 39 points, Les Butler, was able to increase his overall lead in the title race, so that his best three rounds total of 125 points meant that he was the worthy winner of the 2008 Layton Cup Trophy with one of the highest points total seen in the competition to date. David Whitehead with 121 points had to settle for second place, and there were three Seniors on 119 points each to share 3rd place being David Oates, John Palmer and Keith Ray.

All the Club's 2008 Trophy winners will be decided on Sunday, September 14th, when the Club Championship Finals Day takes place. It comprises 13 exciting knock-out finals involving all sections of the Club. Members are encouraged to support their favourities on the day, and to attend the Presentation of Trophies to all Competition Winners, which follows the knock-out matches, at 5.00 pm.
