MONMOUTH Rotary Club’s firework extravaganza fired up the crowds last night (5th November) at the charity’s annual fundraiser.

The bonfire was lit by Mayor of Monmouth, Councillor Graham Pritchard and was followed by a 20 minute firework display.

The Rotary Club uses this event and others, like the raft race, to raise money for the charities it supports.

In the rotary year ending 30th June 2015, the Monmouth Club donated nearly £60,000 to charity.

The main causes supported by the club are St David’s Foundation Hospice Care, In The Pink Breast Cancer Research and breast cancer research at Velindre Hospital as well as Vale Breast Cancer Research. Overmonnow Special Needs Unit, Shelter boxes, Macmillan Cancer Support, Wales Air Ambulance, Bridges Community Centre and many other charities are also supported.
