Following the recent death of the Penallt Cricket Club fixtures secretary Malcolm Young, his close friend and sporting colleague Bryn Boycott felt inspired to raise funds for a permanent memorial to honour Malcolm's contribution to the club.
Club players, members and friends responded superbly, and very quickly sufficient funds were raised for the purchase of a much-needed pavillion clock.
A celebration was held at Penallt Cricket Club, attended by Malcolm's wife Marilyn, family and friends to officially acknowledge the installation of the new clock and to unveil a plaque in his memory.
Malcolm Young was a very popular sportsman and very well known locally, and was a passionate supporter of local cricket.
His presence will be long remembered and sadly missed by all his friends at Penallt Cricket Club.
