A Monmouth councillor says he is being kept in the dark over two serious incidents which happened in his ward.

Councillor Bob Hayward told the Central Monmouthshire Area Committee he had been given no information about the death of Valerie Cadogan, who died after coming off her bicycle in Tregate Close on Wednesday 24th April.

"As ward member I have received nothing at all," said Cllr Hayward, who represents Dixton with Osbaston on the county council.

Cllr Hayward is also concerned at a lack of updates on the investigation into a wall collapsing at Monmouth Leisure Centre back in October 2012.

The concrete partition wall fell on top of Monmouth Comprehensive School pupil Daniel Morgan, 15, before a games lesson.

At first, councillors were given regular updates on both Daniel's condition and the investigation being carried out by the Health and Safety Executive.

The teenager has since returned to school but Cllr Hayward says members have had no report on the outcome of the investigation.

Gwent Police said officers were still putting together a coroner's file following the death of Mrs Cadogan so an inquest date is yet to be set.
