SIR,

May I just clarify the situation regarding the vote taken by Monmouthshire County Council on the focused changes in the LDP?

There was only one motion before the council IE to accept the focussed changes and pass the LDP to the inspector.

There was an amendment to remove Wonastow Road from the LDP, from which Councillor White abstained.

The main vote to support the LDP which included the Wonastow Road site was supported by councillors White and Hackett Pain.

The LDP could have been defeated if these councillors had supported the views of the town.

I don't believe Councillor White was being cowardly – she was simply putting the needs of the Conservative Party before the needs of her ward members.
