Your readers will recall that Monmouth Town Council admitted in your issue of 29th September it had acted in an excessively secretive manner in excluding the public from hearing presentations by people who wished to be co-opted onto the council to represent Wyesham.

They said that in future "the whole process [is] to take place in the presence of the public and press".

Sadly that turns out not to be the case.

The council has now told me the public and press may be prevented from knowing how councillors vote on the candidates.

It is a pity the council's press release misled your readers.
