MADAM,

In your Beacon Letters of last Wednesday, Mr Nigel Williams drew attention to the important and frustrating issue of the very frequent and daily closures of the Monmouth Recycling Centre (‘Tip staff just as frustrated about closures,’ 18th July).

This happens unannounced, not even to the site staff. The public turn up at the advertised times only to find it closed for lengthy periods.

Yes, the situation is extremely serious and frustrating for all of us who are keen on recycling. The county council must do something now. Recycling is rapidly expanding and it is time for the county council to tell us how far advanced is their programme for a larger site for extra items especially plastic.

I am copying this letter to our Assembly Member Nick Ramsay as it appears that county hall are too remote to realise what is happening.
