Competitors toiled under the stern gazes of judges Darren Pryer, Head Chef of Marriott St Pierre Hotel and his colleague Matt Leung, and Colin Carter, Head Chef of the Piercefield Country Inn.
Eventually Marcus Vine was adjudged the winner for the second year running, and he will go on to the next heat of this nationwide competition in Stroud in January.
