Sir,
As your readers may remember, I wrote to you a couple of months ago with regards to the traffic along Rockfield Road, travelling well above the speed limit of 30mph (I believe that in many areas their actual speed limit within a school area has been reduced to a far safer 20mph? )
The Beacon is published and sold on a Wednesday, but most people buy theirs on Thursday. It seems strange then, that on the very next day, there appeared, as if by magic, a speed camera outside the old chicken farm!
Alas, the school term has now resumed, but where are the speed checks? Nowhere to be seen!
I am aware that Monmouth Police's very own Community Police Inspector has children attending Overmonnow primary school, so surely he, if anyone, should be taking a stand against, what are primarily, law-breakers?
It would only take a few prosecutions for word to spread that we, the parents, will not just stand by and let idiot drivers risk the lives of our children.
Rockfield Road is now becoming a "rat-run", and until the local police start clamping down on the minority of drivers who think that they are outside the law, then it won't be long before a child loses their life.
