Hendre WI

President Sue Evans welcomed members to the February meeting of The Hendre WI and went through the business and forthcoming events.

A discussion was held on whether members wanted to adopt a change of name and the conclusion was that they would become ‘The Hendre WI (Overmonnow)’.

Also discussed was the option to change from meeting in the evening to in the morning but this was rejected by members who voted to stay exactly as they were.

The business side of the meeting over, members spent an enjoyable evening of poetry reading, with a good mix of humourous prose and some nostalgic poems dating back to their schooldays.

The evening concluded with tea and biscuits.

The next meeting will be held at the community hall on the Rockfield Estate, commencing at 7.15pm on Tuesday March 10 when John Upward will be giving a talk entitled ‘Fighter Pilot to Chimney Sweep’.

New member are always made very welcome - just turn up on the night.
