The River Monnow in Monmouth broke its banks in the early hours of Saturday morning on November 15 and left cars and high street shops underwater.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service worked alongside Gwent Police, Welsh Ambulance Services NHS University Trust (WAST), SARA, Mountain Rescue, the Coastguard, and colleagues from neighbouring Fire and Rescue Services who have provided additional support.

Now the high street is clear, local residents have been helping with the cleanup of shops and businesses .

Jenny Chuter, owner of The Boat House Gift Shop and Gallery which had been left with metre high flooding said: "There weren't any words when we saw it, it was just an Armageddon - it was horrendous.

But everyone is safe and things can be replaced."
