A LIFE-CHANGING kidney transplant was the inspiration for a clean sweep of Monmouth's river banks.
Twenty bulging bags of litter were collected from the banks of the Monnow and the Wye on Sunday.
Local volunteers were sponsored to do a major litter pick in order to raise funds for Kidney Wales. Anthea Dewhurst, whose husband had the life-changing benefit of a kidney transplant, said: "Rather than doing a 'Kidney Wales Walk for Life' we decided to try and clean up our beautiful river banks at the same time.
