A WHOPPING £1,300 has been raised for Cancer Research UK by staff at Chepstow’s Tesco.

The store was decorated pink last Friday (15th April) and Saturday (16th April) and staff hosted several fun-filled and tasty activities including a big raffle, craft stall and cake sale.

The cause is close to the store’s heart after two members of staff recently passed away after battling cancer.

Sarah Sanders, community fundraising champion (pictured left), said: “The response we’ve had has been brilliant.

“Colleagues have made cakes and businesses have donated prizes. We’d like to say thank you to all the businesses that donated to us.

“The day has been organised in conjunction with Race for Life and a lot of us are taking part in the race. My training for the event involves walking around the store everyday!”

Nigel Carwardine, store manager, said: “It’s been pretty awesome today. Cancer Research is such a good cause and it’s close to Chepstow’s heart. Staff have done a great job.”

Staff would like to thank the businesses that contributed to the raffle prizes: Costa Coffee Chepstow, St Pierre, Ja’dore, Paint on Me, Viva Coture, Glow Chepstow, Toffs Chepstow, and Chepstow Garden Centre.
