CHEPSTOW Comprehensive School celebrated "superb" A-level results last Thursday (14th August) as all students achieved a pass grade. Year 12 and 13 students gathered in the school hall to receive their results, with 58 per cent achieving an A* to B grade. Rhiannon White and Tim Bonvoisin both gained places at Oxford University. Rhiannon is going to Pembroke College to read experimental psychology after being awarded two A*s and two As, and Tim will study philosophy and theology at St Peter's College after gaining three As. 18-year-old triplets Hannah, Tom and Will Leney from Itton are all moving on to Birmingham University to study adult nursing, sport and exercise science and sports and materials science respectively. They might be sticking together at university, but all have applied for separate accommodation. Sam Williams and Megan Davies have both secured competitive places at the Royal Welsh College of Music. The couple have been dating for two years. Sam will study composition, and Megan specialises in the saxophone. One student who gained the praise of staff at the school is 18-year-old Rosie Eccles. "She's a star," said assistant head teacher Jamie Goddard. "She struggled last year a bit, but she's completely turned it around." Rosie transformed last year's grades of D, D, U, B, to one A and two Bs, gaining her a place at Cardiff Metropolitan University to study sport. The amateur boxer really knuckled down to change her marks. She said: "It has taken a lot of hard work, I haven't slept for a month. "I just knew I wanted to improve my grades so I revised, studied past papers, and I'm so happy now." Rosie is a member of Chepstow Amateur Boxing Club and hopes to one day join the Welsh team. Many students have found a path that doesn't take them through university. Anna Stanley has been accepted into the Army and Gareth Jones has secured a place with the RAF. Melanie Thomas, head of sixth form at the comprehensive said: "These are superb results for a dedicated and diligent year group. "I have been proud to be their head of sixth form and wish them all the very best of luck for the future."
