PUPILS at Chepstow School had a visit last Monday (14th October) from longest running Phantom of the Opera star, Peter Karrie.

Karrie, who played Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, conducted a workshop at the school in preparation for their own performance of the show.

Rhidian Phillips, Head of Drama at Chepstow School, said: "Peter Karrie's visit came about after seeing a tweet on my twitter account. Peter came out on Monday and the cast had the wonderful opportunity to work with him on Music of the Night, one of the songs from Phantom of the Opera.

"Peter will be returning to the school on Monday to work again with the senior cast and to prepare some songs for his concert on Friday 1st November where he and the students will sing together, an occasion that our pupils are really looking forward to."

Christian Andrews, who will play Phantom in the production, was given a masterclass on how to approach the iconic role. He said: "It was such a great feeling. To work with someone like Peter is priceless."

The Chepstow School students who are due to stage their own 'Phantom' production in February will perform alongside Karrie at a charity fundraising event at Bridges on Friday 1st November at 7.30pm.
