Staff from Chepstow-based engineering company, Architen Landrell, took part in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics in recognition of the group's work towards building the venues.
Thirteen members of the team were given tickets to become part of the guard of honour that welcomed Sir Steve Redgrave and the Olympic torch into the stadium.
Participants were kept in suspense as to what they would be doing until a few days before the event.
The company designed, manufactured and installed the building envelope (the tensile fabric shell which covers the steelwork and forms the external façade of the structure) for the Water Polo arena.
The building is constructed out of tensile fabric cushions (a PVC coated polyester fabric) which create the roof of the structure and a single layer of PVC coated polyester fabric forms the sides of the structure.
The whole structure is entirely demountable and will be dismantled at the end of the games, and probably used in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games.
Architen Landrell also constructed the tensile fabric 'wings' which contain the seating for the Aquatics Centre.
The group also installed tensile canopies covering the stairways of the main stadium, providing shelter for those using the stadium stairs and escalators.
