SIR,
Samaritans receives a call every six seconds. We couldn't answer those calls without the help of our 600 volunteers who give up their time to help those struggling to cope.
Since 2010 we've been providing a Welsh language phone line (0300 123 3011) from 7pm to 11pm seven nights a week in addition to our round the clock UK helpline (08457 90 90 90).
Every minute we respond to someone who may be suicidal. Our highly trained volunteers provide a completely confidential service which encourages people to contact us and talk about what is worrying them in their life with the knowledge that we won't pass it on.
Without this, those who have the greatest need might never have the courage to speak to us.
Each year our volunteers in Wales receive more than 88,000 calls, texts and emails. In these difficult economic times we continue to work hard to make sure anyone who needs us is aware of our services, wherever they live in Wales.
