Firemen were called to the A40 at about 1pm on Saturday when this Mercedes sprinter van caught fire.

The van, which was carrying coffee machines, had been pulled over for around half an hour due to a puncture when it burst into flames.

The reason for the fire has not yet been determined, but no-one was injured during the incident.

Also, motorists endured hours of traffic misery yesterday morning (Tuesday 21st September) when tailbacks from Wye Bridge to Whitchurch brought traffic to a standstill.

The problem was all due to a lorry (pictured, centre) which had broken down at the traffic lights just before the bridge.
