This year’s carnival was another huge success for the organisers and was expanded this year to provide Monmouth with its own Glastonbury sound.

The ‘Heroes and Villians’ themed event was judged by town mayor Cllr Jackie Atkin who gave first prize in the individual and small groups category to Sophia Evans as Mal (Descendants), second place went to Roxy and Daisy as Minions.

Large groups category went to Wyesham’s Busy Bees followed by the Savoy Youth Theatre and third was Hereford’s Blind College.

Wheeled vehicles winner was The Layne family with Captain Hook’s Pirate Ship, second was Harley Quinn.

Traders’ Cup for best overall went to Monnow Bridge Fish and Chip shop, with the Monmouthshire Building Society getting an award for best window display and Specsavers for best costumes.
