SINCE the beginning of 2015 there have been 32 vehicle related crimes in the Caldicot area to date.

Gwent Police report that work vans have been targeted with rear doors forced and tools taken.

Cars have also been entered and iPods, satellite navigation systems, cash and bank cards, and other electrical items have been taken.

Highly valuable catalytic convertors were taken off two of the vehicles.

A quarter of the vehicles had been left insecure while 22 per cent of vehicles were entered by unknown means – which could mean the owners were unsure if they had locked them or not – and the rest were entered by force.

Police encourage people to be vigilant and make sure your vehicles are locked at all times when not in use, parking them in a well lit position at night.

Don't leave valuables on display as this is too much of a temptation for opportunist thieves.

If any suspicious activity is seen call 101 at the time, or 999 if you deem it an emergency.
