Can we have market back where it belongs?

SIR,

Monmouth is lucky to have a traditional town square with market place – as do some other British towns and many on the continent.

We are also lucky that the council has renovated this area in front of the Shire Hall to a good standard.

This makes an excellent place for Monmouth to have its market stalls again – as is its tradition.

For the sake of its attractiveness to tourists – and for the sake of the people of the town – may we have the market back where it belongs?
