At a recent meeting of the Joint Schools' Council the young people of Monmouth Comprehensive School, Monmouth School and the Haberdashers' School for Girls decided they would like to do something jointly to help local community projects. Each school has raised money for local, national and international projects but are looking for an opportunity to do something together in Monmouth or the surrounding area. These students are committed to raising funds for others less fortunate than themselves. The big question is which local project to support? Local charities, Community Projects and individuals are invited to apply to the Joint Schools' Council to request support. Requests for support (however small or large) should be made via Mrs Wendy Baker, Marketing & Media Manager at Monmouth Comprehensive School. Once applications have been received, the young councillors will determine the projects they are able to support. After careful consideration, it was agreed that the funds raised will be divided into three equal sums, with each School Council determining who will receive their share. The fundraising event will be a sponsored Y7 Fun Run on 27 February. This is a very worthwhile experience for the young people as they will be able to work together on this joint venture while benefiting the local community as well. The Joint Schools' Council looks forward to hearing from you.
