Monmouthshire County Council has agreed to a request from Usk Town Council to install CCTV overlooking the historic Usk Bridge.
This is to help overcome growing concerns over illegal HGV lorries using Usk as a short cut and to help catch vehicles that damage the bridge.
In a letter to Usk Town Council, Paul Keeble, advised of the council's intention to provide a CCTV Camera on the Woodside end or the Town Bridge. "The camera will allow MCC to monitor any incidents on the bridge and also may be useful evidence of the contravention of the Weight Limit Traffic Order.
