SIR, I would like to invite all Monmouthshire's children aged 11 and under to take part in the British Heart Foundation's (BHF) Cymru's Bag It. Beat It. poster competition this month and design their own heart superhero possessing special powers to help fight congenital heart disease. Over 200 Welsh children with congenital heart defects, often limiting their physical ability and quality of life, will start school this year, but 18 of their potential classmates will have lost their life before reaching school age. Our Bag It. Beat It. campaign is urging the public to donate bags full of unwanted items to their local BHF shop to help fund life-saving heart research so that as many children as possible will attend school. The winning and runner up entrants will have their posters made into a soft toy for them to keep, made by Just-cuddle.com. The winning design will be displayed in all 735 BHF shops throughout the UK during October and its young artist will have the opportunity to take part in a photoshoot outside their local BHF shop. Full terms and conditions can be found at http://www.bagit.bhf.org.uk/poster-ts-and-cs/">www.bagit.bhf.org.uk/poster-ts-and-cs/. Entries can be submitted on A4 or A3 sheets of paper, or by email. Paper entries should be sent to: Bag It. Beat It. competition, FAO Samantha Bandak, British Heart Foundation, Greater London House, 180 Hampstead Road, London, NW1 7AW. Alternatively, entries can be emailed as an attachment to [email protected]">[email protected] with the subject line: Bag It. Beat It. competition.
