THE Abergavenny Eisteddfod is held on two days: 14th March for children and young people and 20th June for adults.
The list of competitions is extensive and caters for such talents as singing, music, dance, drama and recitation. There are no geographical limits for competitors and talented people throughout Monmouthshire are encouraged to compete, especially schools and societies.

Deadlines are 25th February (children aged 5 to 11), 27th February (compositions by young people aged 11 to 18) and 4th March (stage competitions for 11 to 18-year-olds). The deadline for adult entries (literature and stage competitions) is 22nd May. Updates will be posted on the new Twitter feed @EisteddfodAberg.
Medals are awarded to the top three performances in each competition on 14th March and there are increased cash prizes at the young people's eisteddfod. Another benefit to competitors is the expert judges' adjudication of each performance, giving valuable feedback.
For those starting their careers, eisteddfod competitions are a rewarding experience and a valuable addition to any CV. It will prepare people of all ages to compete in the National Eisteddfod which will be hosted by Monmouthshire in 2016. The organisers look forward to another successful event this year with a large representation from the county's talented local people, young and not quite so young alike.
