A Monmouth Town Councillor is calling for a major road in the town to be closed because it is in such a bad state of repair.

Councillor John Fletcher told the Monmouthshire Beacon that pieces of the 'sleeping policeman' in Wonastow Road had "bits flying off it".

Although he was pleased to note that some of the pot-holes had recently been filled in, he said: "The road has got into such a bad state I believe it should be closed. It is appaling and very dangerous.The residents of Trevor Bowen Court are finding it difficult to manoeuvre with the bad road condition.

"I am pretty certain they will have to close the road soon and put some other system like rumble scripts in to calm traffic."
