AN opticians in Monmouth has raised more than £150 by hosting a cake sale in aid of Sport Relief.
Staff at Specsavers baked a range of sweet treats and invited customers visiting the store to support its fundraising activities by donating to Sport Relief in exchange for a homemade cake. A total of £158.80 was raised on the day.
Sport Relief was started by the group behind Comic Relief in 1985, and has helped thousands of people across Britain and beyond. Half of the money raised for the charity by the public is used in projects based in the UK, and the other half goes towards funding overseas schemes for vulnerable people.
Peter Render, director at Specsavers in Monmouth, said: ‘I’m delighted to have lent our support to Sport Relief this year as it is such a worthy cause.”
