CAB opens at Town Council

ADVICE sessions will be on offer at the Ross Town Council Offices every Wednesday. The Mayor of Ross, Councillor Derek Bedford, launched the new facility at the Corn Exchange on Thursday, February 21st. He said: "As a Councillor for many years I have always been a great supporter of the work of The Citizens Advice Bureau. The advisors and support staff provide excellent advice to local people who need it. The advice is free, confidential and the service is independent and impartial. "I would like to thank those involved in seeing this project through to conclusion. The trustees of Herefordshire CAB and Brian Roe Vice-Chair an active Rotarian, Claire Keetch, manager and her team and John Ward from Ross." He thanked his fellow town Concillors for their continued support and paid tribute to Denise Mason, the Town Clerk as well as Paul Deneen and Joyce Thomas MBE?DL, "who worked very hard behind the scenes to ensure the project succeeds." He said the sponsorship included donations from Town Council, Ross Rural Council, Ross Labels, ABT Products, Minett and Skyrme, Simon Porter, and The Ross Rotary Club. Claire Keetch, Herefordshire CAB District Manager, said: "We are pleased to have the opportunity to trial services from a venue in the town centre, and this chance has come about as the result of excellent partnership working between the CAB, the Town Council and the merging Friends Group, who have been raising funds to support the service". Mrs Thomas said she was very pleased that they had secured additional CAB advice service and she was grateful to the team of advisors, especially John Wood. Paul Deneen said that the new facility was the result of people working together for the common aim of providing a much valued CAB?service. He thanked the Town Council and the sponsors and supporters for their help. From 18th February 2008, the CAB in Ross will be available as follows: Monday, 10am – 2pm at the Ryefield Road Centre and Wednesday, 10 am – 2pm at the Town Council Offices in the High Street.
