Chinese restaurants in Monmouth and Chepstow have been fined for using illegal workers.

Canton Kitchen, of Monnow Street, Monmouth, was hit with a £10,000 fine by the UK Border Agency after two illegal workers were found on the premises.

Shangri La, of St Mary Street, Chepstow was given a £5,000 fine for using one illegal worker.

Ron Harris Stables, of Earlswood, was also fined £8,750 for employing an illegal worker.

Under the 2006 Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act, employers found to be using illegal migrant workers will be served with a Notification of Potential Liability (NOPL) by immigration officers on enforcement visits.
