W H Smith is celebrating its 225th year in retail and to mark the milestone, the company is raising money throughout 2017 to support three charities: Cancer Research; Mind and National Literacy Trust.

The staff at the Monmouth branch have started fund-raising with a local raffle to win a chocolate hamper. This was donated from the staff in the store and has raised just less than £200 in one week.

The winner was drawn on Monday 13th February.

They will be planning more fundraising events throughout the year and these will be advertised within the store.

Any donations towards the three charities will be gratefully received.

Choosing the winning ticket was Monmouth lady Rebecca Hallam.
