Design students from Coleg Gwent have been given the chance to design a brand new foyer for the Savoy Theatre in Monmouth.

The students, under the guidance of Wendy Williams, Interior Design tutor at the Monmouth Learn IT Centre in Church Street, are required to do a practical application of their new-found skills on the course.

Terry Ashton, Honorary General Manager of the Savoy Theatre, said: "We thought that this would be a fantastic opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and skills in a way that would benefit the community as a whole because their finished work would be on display every day."

The plan is for the students to begin their project early in the new year, submitting their designs to Wendy for approval, after which they will be judged by the public.
