PUPILS in Yr 4 at Raglan Primary School have been getting a first hand account of what village life was like in times gone by as part of a fascinating intergenerational project. Since January a group of local residents have been dropping in for coffee and a chat, recalling their schooldays and memories of growing up in a rural area. Visits have been made to local farms and to Usk Rural Life Museum. The aim of the project was to foster relationships with different generations in the community and for pupils to learn how living styles had changed over the years. "It's been fantastic," Yr 4 teacher, Nichola Stephens, told the Beacon. "It's been a really worthwhile experience and we've all had great fun." The visitors paid a final call at the school last week when they were presented with a DVD entitled "Raglan's Local Ways," and treated to a buffet lunch. So successful was the project that it is hoped to repeat it next year. Pupils pictured with Mrs June Lumley (above) and Mrs Margaret Williams (below)
